POLE POSITION FOR NOW
13 Mar 2017
Well we can now rightfully say we are in pole position to give ourselves the best opportunity to win the Premiership. To win 16 from 18 games is a already a great achievement and a wee flag as league winners would have been nice but that's just not the way it works and we understand that. So lets get on with it, we will play Currie on the 1st April at the Greenyards and no matter that they finished 25pts behind us in the regular season its cup tie rugby and the winner will take the spoils
I would like to congratulate everyone involved for having worked so hard to make this season so very successful. I am fully aware we may well end up with no silverware but some facts will always remain in place.. We finished top on 78 points i think the most points gained in the ten team league scenario. We are one game away from reaching our 6th Cup final in 9 yrs which despite the fact we never win them, it would be a remarkable show of consistency plus the Storm won their league by 20 pts never losing a game. Just to top the lot our Youth section won the Borders Community conference and have increased the numbers of kids involved by 22%. We now have 330 registered kids playing and to increase numbers on such an already successful set up despite some population challenges compared to other areas, its quite remarkable.
A huge thank you must go to our Development Officer Ciaran Hogg, our entire Youth Section led by Colin Meager and to Earlston High School and Malcolm Changleng.
So lets take a week off, draw some breath and then lets go for it. I call on every single supporter to play their part over the next few weeks, its a tough ask but when compared to the work the players still need to put in to actually win and be seen as succesful -- IS IT?--As they say ,you have to be in it to win it--we are certainly still in it so lets try our best and at least have some fun together as we give it our best shot
