School of Hard Knocks Charity Shield Lunch
Melrose Rugby will host Stirling County in the traditional curtain raiser to the season on Saturday 25 August 2018 at The Greenyards.
As the current BT Cup and BT Premiership holders we are looking forward to hosting Stirling County in what is sure to be a competitive display of high quality rugby. Another purpose of the day is to support raise the profile of a nominated charity. This year the nominated charity is the School of Hard Knocks, Scotland.
The School of Hard Knocks (SoHK) delivers life transforming programmes for both disadvantaged men, women and children with rugby as the main vehicle in delivering practical lessons about self-worth, working together, communication and many other life skills.
Each programme ends with a game of rugby against an established team and SoHK participants say that they get so much out of the programme that they regularly end up joining a rugby club to continue playing a game that they have embraced and learnt to love.
Rosa Innes, Programme Manager for Scotland, and colleagues will attend the lunch before the game and will give brief explanation of what the charity does and the success it has had in helping to transform disadvantaged people’s lives utilising rugby.
Lunch will commence at 12.30pm and places are available at £20 per head for Melrose members and £30 for non-members for this charity event. The game will kick off at 3pm
Book your place now by calling the club office on 01896 822993 and join us at the lunch to find out more about the great work of SoHK before watching a top quality rugby match (match programme and match ticket included in price).
