The Rotary Unveil Officials Kit

29 Mar 2018

Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland is, once more, joining the winning line up as sponsors of Melrose Sevens. The partnership kicked off in great style 3 years ago and Rotary is delighted to be back in the field. As with Rotary, Melrose Sevens is proud of its history and heritage with both being well over a century old. Rotary is now a worldwide organisation whilst rugby sevens is played on a global scale and is regarded as the fastest growing team sport in the world.

Rotary’s support will be visible thanks to distinctive new officials kit displaying the Rotary wheel as well as pitch-side boards, large unmissable signs, a page in the event programme and our presence on the giant screen. Rotary is also this year's designated charity for the event giving even higher profile for the organisation on the 14th of April.

In addition, Rotary has agreed to be principal sponsor of the inaugural “Melrose University Sevens” to be held on the 1st of April at The Greenyards. This will further connect Rotary with the younger generation, an area where Rotary does offer great  including overseas exchanges, training and mentoring opportunities.

Rotary President Denis Spiller said: “It’s great to be part of the team for this year’s Melrose Sevens and beyond. This partnership makes perfect sense. A rugby team works together to tackle the challenges and reach its goals, as does Rotary in our communities at home and abroad, but typically in less muddy conditions!”

“I am looking forward to seeing the tournament get underway and wish everyone the best of luck.”

Melrose president Douglas Hardie said “We are delighted that Rotary is back on board for this year’s Melrose Sevens and The Rotary Melrose University Sevens. The events could not continue in their present format without the crucial support of companies and organisations such as Rotary. Sponsoring our officials at the main event and university tournament will give Rotary huge visible profile and we look forward to welcoming Rotary President Denis Spiller on the 14th April”
