The Finals Chapter Act 1
10 Apr 2017
This week is your last chance of the season to support the team at home on the Greenyards. We started the season back in August at Goldenacre winning the Charity Shield against Heriots. We then had a run of eleven BT Premiership games before the break for the Autumn Internationals, losing only twice - Heriots at the Greenyards and Ayr at Millbrae. Since then the team has gone unbeaten although it was a very close thing at Goldenacre in January. It has made it a very special season already, as we have at last managed to claim the right to put the Melrose name on the Bill MacLaren Shield and host the BT Premiership Final. Two more matches - a big ask of the team and a big ask of our support, but this is the pinnacle of the Club game in Scotland so worth going the extra mile for. Come on down on Saturday and make it happen.
Last week saw us host our annual sevens, once again showing the narrow margin between the Premiership players and the professional sides in this arena as both Edinburgh Academicals and Melrose ran Harlequins close with some pulsating rugby. Thank you to all those volunteers and helpers that make the day possible, and with the glorious sunshine the town was shown off to its best advantage. Also thanks to all those that turned out to support the teams and give the tournament a vibrant atmosphere that makes Melrose Sevens a top event in the Scottish sporting social calendar.
