Into the Sharp End of the Season

Into the Sharp End of the Season

It was another high-scoring game at the Greenyards on Saturday, with Watsonians showing their regained confidence especially when the play became looser. Indeed they may have gone back to Edinburgh the happier club as the win came at the cost of a string of injuries for Melrose. I have to pay tribute to the replacements coming on to tough it out and take us through to the win - a real testimony to the squad ethic.

We welcomed the return of some well-known faces as a reunion lunch for the 66-67 team and the Dallas tourists took place, and a good few remained to watch Glasgow destroy Leicester in the Champions Cup.

The youth section held a fund-raising dinner for their fantastic Under-14 end of season tour to Monaco, and raised a significant proportion of the necessary monies. Well done , and a very entertaining evening with Willie Allan and Doddie Weir.

This week we look forward to welcoming Currie down to the Greenyards for the BT Cup Round 3, made all the harder by the casualties suffered, but we shall play what’s in front of us and work to overcome a Currie side buoyed by their recent success after a difficult start to the season.
