The League is Over - Cup Rugby Remains
12 Mar 2017
We now know our opposition on the 1st of April in the BT Premiership Play-Off Semi-Final. As predicted earlier in the season, Currie will be making the journey down to the Greenyards, although the margins ended up being much tighter than expected.
The Stirling County game, rearranged from 14th of January, was a tighter match than the score suggests, and it was 7-8 at half time with a try apiece. The second half went a bit better with us scoring four tries to nil, but credit to Stirling County for their spirited defence.
The result leads us in to the sharp end of the season with the BT Premiership Play-Off, BT Cup Semi-Final, the Sevens, and a Bookers Border League final all definite fixtures. We can get a bit blasé about being involved at this time of the season, and I still remember the era when we were relegated and had to force our way back up into the top division. Everything that the squad has worked for all season is still there to play for, but with the quality of opposition we expect real fireworks in the closing games. We shall be looking to bring the intensity back from the game against Ayr at the Greenyards, when the boys fronted up to the physicality with style and determination in the two biggest games of the season.
We look forward to welcoming you for both games and please come to see the Sevens draw being made on the 25th of March before the BT Cup Semi-Final against Stirling County. The winner takes all in the remaining games, so come and be part of all the drama.
