Friday nights result at Riverside means we are now into the Border League final. To defeat a strong ambitious Jed team with 12 players either resting or playing for their country in the club international is testament to the hard work being done at the club by both our coaches and players. Our young players all stood up to the challenge being well lead by the more experienced players such as Nyle Godsmark , Peter Eccles and Cammy Mackay. Young prop Ben McLean in particular had a good night and if he continues to work as hard as he is at the moment you will see a lot of him. In the alternative world of props he's just a kid so time is very much on his side. Two players made their debut at 1st Xv level. Alasdair O'Reilly a hard working flanker who is just a wee bit faster than his legendary grandad Mike and Adam Hall from the Wasps.
Back to cup action this week as we once more take on Heriots with the prize at stake being a home semi final on the 24th March against Boroughmuir or Stirling. I have absolutely no doubt Heriots will arrive confident and determined as they seemed to feel very hard done by in our last meeting a couple of weeks ago. Equally our players let's say didn't agree with that view and are therefore very much looking forward to what will be a really tough game with a wee bit of an edge to it.
We are now at the business end of the season with all of the coming home games being shared gate proceeds with the opposition. We have given ourselves an opportunity to have a very exciting end to the season with a wee bit of fun on our home ground so let's put in a special effort to not only support our players but to reflect the current positivity within our club.
Make no mistake to win anything will require a very special effort but at least we are back in there with a shout and that's what really matters. As they say you have to be in it to win it.
