What kit do we need?
Players need gum shields, shorts (black), club socks and boots for games Playing jerseys for fixtures will be provided by the club.
We also ask parents and players to ensure they have suitable cold/wet weather clothing for both coaching sessions and on match days
Where and when is coaching?
Details of the times and location of coaching is specific to age groups- see details for individual teams.
Lead coaches will advise how they will communicate with you e.g. if there are fixture changes or cancellation of coaching during bad weather etc
Will my child be safe?
We make every effort to ensure we provide as safe and fun environment for all our youth rugby players All our coaches complete the necessary background checks and as a minimum undertake the annual “Rugby Right” training course Many of our coaches have also progressed to National Level 1 and 2 qualifications. We also have a number of coaches with first aid certification and coaches receive basic training in first aid for sports injuries. Coaches are PVG checked and our Child Protection Policy is managed by Karen Henderson our Child Protection Officer.
Why do I have to register my child?
We ask for every child to be registered and to pay a small membership fee. This covers the SRU levy and insurance cover as well as contributing to the kit and equipment we need as well us catering etc. throughout the season
Who do I speak to with any concerns or questions?
In the first instance your lead coach and/or parent representative (if applicable) should be your initial contact. Should any issues require escalation, Ciaran Hogg, our Youth Development Officer and Colin Meager, Director of Youth Rugby can be contacted. Alternatively you can contact Karen Henderson our Child Protection Officer.
