PARTNERSHIP NEWS: CGI YOUTH RUGBY CAMPS

Melrose Rugby secures new two-year CGI sponsorship deal

The CGI Youth Camps partnership kicks-off this year for a two-year deal.

Melrose Rugby is delighted to have secured a new two-year sponsorship deal with CGI, one of the largest IT and business consulting services firms in the world. The agreement will see CGI support and grow Melrose’s well-established youth section as Principal Partner of the Club’s Youth Camps.

Melrose Rugby takes great pride in the Youth Camps which are open to all, where youth of all ages and abilities from around the Scottish Borders can come along and develop their rugby skills and sporting talent.

Thanks to CGI’s support, Melrose will host up to four camps this calendar year at the Greenyards, the home of Rugby 7s. The new partnership with CGI supports the club’s commitment to growing the game among the region’s youth, with fun, inclusion and friendship at its core.

Melrose Rugby also wants to encourage more families to attend match days. CGI has therefore funded a brand-new rugby inflatable for the club to use during games at the Greenyards where young children can play while testing out their rugby skills.

Melrose Rugby General Manager, Douglas Crawford, said: “CGI is a very loyal supporter of rugby in Melrose and grassroots sport across the Scottish Borders, and I am delighted they have agreed this new sponsorship deal with the club. As our principal partner, they will help us grow and enhance our youth camp offering, so young people in our community can reap the benefits of learning the game in an enjoyable environment.

“This partnership is hugely important to Melrose Rugby. We have a very successful youth section, run by an amazing team of volunteers, which will benefit massively from the generous support given by CGI.

“Our youth camps allow us to widen our reach to children and young people who otherwise might not get the opportunity to enjoy the game. Rugby is shown to help improve young people’s health and mental well-being, learn new skills and improve behaviours.

“We are also delighted that CGI is supporting our bid to see more families come to attend our match days. I’m sure the inflatable will be hugely popular with children and bring a whole new generation of supporters to the Greenyards.”

John Wordsworth Goodram, Vice President for CGI, said: “CGI has helped deliver a number of excellent rugby development initiatives over the years at the Greenyards and we are proud to be partnering with Melrose Rugby for the next two years. We continue to fully embrace the importance of using sport as a vehicle to support positive change and improve social engagement, especially amongst local youth. Melrose Rugby play a huge part in achieving this, and we look forward to helping them build on their youth camp and team success, as well as encouraging more families to watch their teams play at the Greenyards.”
