Melrose Rugby Bulletin 13-2-25
Afternoon Folks,
Hope everyone is having a good week and you’re looking forward to our match against Ayr on Saturday. Kick off is the usual 3pm. We’ve also got our annual Farmers Lunch in the 1877 Hall so we’re looking forward to welcoming them. The Storm headed to Selkirk last night (Friday 14th) and came away with a good win - 24-36 - Congrats to them!
The 1XV were at Kelso last weekend, not the best day for us, Kelso took the win with a 30-19 score at full time. CLICK HERE to read Iain’s match report. Although not a winning game, Bruce Colvine has been recognised for his efforts on Saturday – Bruce has made it into The Offside Line’s ‘Dream Team of the Week’! Congrats to him. Elliot Ruthven, Jack Dobie, Angus Runciman & Al Ferrie all got honourable mentions too. You can read the report by CLICKING HERE
The Under 18 & U16 Wasps both came off the wrong side of their matches against Hawick & Linlithgow respectively.

There has been lots of maintenance going on round the club this week. The grounds team have continued with their painting in the changing room corridors – we have a lot of walls! Thanks to them. We’re also in the middle of our Electrical Testing week which is a big job, but the guys are getting there!
Visitors to the Club
You never know who is going to walk through the door of Melrose Rugby and yesterday was a prime example of that! We had a lovely visit from Gonzalo Silva & family. Gonzalo was on holiday from Uruguay and revisiting Melrose 20 years after playing at the 7s. He remembers fondly staying with Douglas Hardie and was delighted to reconnect with Rob Moffat too. Gonzalo would love to do a player exchange with the club sometime! His son is a keen player and he now coaches – we took some photos on the pitch too!
Six Nations in the Ned Haig
Just a reminder that the Bar is open for the Six Nations! We had a nice crowd in tor the Ireland game and you’re welcome to come on down on the 22nd too - that’s the evening Scotland play England!
Well I think that’s about it for this week! Hope to see you down at the club this weekend!
Best wishes
Hilary
