Melrose Rugby Bulletin 6/2/25
Evening Folks!
Hope everyone has had a good week! There was certainly some entertaining rugby both at The Greenyards & Murrayfield this last weekend! We had a successful Friday night under the lights against Peebles coming away with a 50-14 win – a great atmosphere in the club rooms too – with the Peebles boys staying on & drowning their sorrows with some huge helpings of lasagne and a couple of beers! To read Iain’s match report please CLICK HERE . We opened the Ned Haig on Saturday afternoon for the Scotland v Italy game, there were a few takers but please do come down and watch from the comfort of the Ned Haig on Sunday – the bar will be open from 2:30pm with Jimmy & Doug pulling the pints!
This week’s rugby…
Both the Storm & the 1XV take on Kelso this weekend, the Storm head over to Poynder on Friday night for a friendly – KO 7:30pm & the 1XV kick off at 3pm on Saturday in a Border League & Premiership double header, The weather is looking dry but chilly, so wrap up warm if you’re going to support the boys!
This weekend’s full schedule:

Our CGI Easter Camps are now live on the website. They take place from Monday 14th until Friday 18th April – to sign your child up CLICK HERE
Respect the Referee..
You may have seen on social media that our friends at Peebles have been sanctioned for referee abuse. This has had heavy consequences for the club including a financial penalty (suspended pending the implication of a number of actions) Their balcony is to be closed to spectators until the 2nd 1XV game of the 25/26 Season, they must host a ‘Cultivating Minds’ workshop to be made available to all members, players, volunteers & coaches, and a match official liaison officer is to be appointed for all home games. Rugby supporters, players & coaching staff are passionate about the game, but we must make sure this passion doesn’t go to far. So please do bear this in mind the next time you’re tempted to give the ref some well-intended advise. The repercussions are severe – to read Peebles full statement please CLICK HERE it’s on their news feed for Wednesday 5th.

🟡⚫️6 Nations' Prediction Cards🟡⚫️
Massive thank you to all those that handed in your / your age groups prediction cards. Some amazing individual efforts. If any of you have been handed cards (or donations) but haven't returned them please can you hand them into the office or to Fraser Rankine (Hornets training on Sunday).
If you were unable to sell any of your initial allocation of 10 prediction cards then please consider making the equivalent donation to the same value as any unsold cards (if you are able to).
We’re all looking forward to some great rugby this weekend – go well boys as you venture down to Kelso! If you’re heading to Murrayfield on Sunday, have a brilliant time, I’m sure the craic will be grand!
Until next time,
Warm wishes
Hilary
