Melrose Rugby Bulletin 10/10/24

Evening Folks!

This week’s rugby see’s the 1XV at home to Kelso, kicking off at 3pm – it’s also Oktoberfest at the club, so there will be German beer on offer, and entertainment from the Jockuleles from 4:30pm – JP’s American Smokehouse will also be on site with his smoky bourbon sausages & burgers!

If you haven’t booked in for Saturday, benches are gone, but there will be plenty of space in the 1877 ‘Beer Hall’!

The gates will open at 2pm – if you’ve got your membership card and there is a queue at the turnstiles, head to the main gates (or back gate) and Jim will count you in – if you’re paying cash or card, head to the turnstiles or back gate!

Other rugby this weekend:

Friday 11th October
Selkirk A v Melrose Storm
Philiphaugh – KO 7:30pm

Our U18 Wasps match against Jed Thistle has been postponed for now – keep your eye out for a new date.

Last weekend’s results

The 1XV had a good day at Hawks – they won, 31-26. To read Iain’s match report CLICK HERE – Congratulations go to Keiran Clark who was named to The Off-side Line’s Dream Team of the Week!

Kieran is supported by Burgh Barbers –

Unfortunately, the Wasps didn’t have a great weekend with big losses for the both the U18 against GHA & the U16s against Dumfries Saints.

Our next 1XV home game is on November 9th against Edinburgh Accies, it’s also our ‘Ex-players & Supporters Lunch’.  There will be a reunion of players who went on tour to Vancouver 40 years ago…so there may be a Canadian theme for the day…watch this space! Everyone one is welcome, not just ex-players! If you’d like to book in to the lunch, please email generalmanager@melroserugby.org

And finally….this is the weekend that our U18 Wasps Player, Gavin Blackledge heads to off to Hungary to run the Budapest marathon in aid of MyName’5 Doddie – Gavin turns 18 the day before the marathon! If you’d like sponsor him CLICK HERE

That’s it for this week, look forward to seeing lots of you out supporting the 1XV against Kelso on Saturday, and hopefully some of us will get to Selkirk to support the Storm on Friday night too!

Warm wishes

Hilary
