Melrose Rugby Bulletin 24/10/24
Evening All,
Hope everyone is having a good week! There’s been a fair amount of rugby played this week – it started on Friday night with the Storm heading to Biggar – it was certainly worth it as they got the win! Biggar 7 – 15 Melrose. Very well done to them!
Saturday saw the 1XV head West to Ayr. The injured players went along to support the team and Ayr’s pre-match lunch – it’s become a bit of a tradition this season & much appreciated by the guys on the pitch as well as our hosts! There was a wee story about it in the Offside Line’s Monday bulletin: Click Here – It was a pretty glorious day on Saturday, but unfortunately the result didn’t go our way. We headed home with a 45-9 loss. To read Iain’s match report & view a gallery of photos from Andy Mclean: CLICK HERE
The U18 took on Peebles last night at Annay Road, they were up at half time, but at the end of 80 minutes, Peebles had overtaken them – it was as close as it could be with the final score being Melrose Wasps 42 – 44 Peebles.
This week’s matches
The Storm takes on Kelso Sharks at home on Friday night – KO 7.30pm. The bar will be open, so come on down and the support the boys, they’ve had a pretty good start to the season & support is always welcome!
The 1XV are back on the bus to the West again, this time they are off to play Marr in Troon – KO 3PM
The U18 Wasps, go international this weekend – they are heading South of the Border to Carlisle – KO at 3pm
The U16 Wasps are a bit closer to home – they’re away to Gala Red Triangle on Saturday.
Heritage Club Tie
We’re all beginning to think about Christmas…and we have a little offering that will hopefully interest some of you – Club Director Hugh Pollock has sourced what we’re describing as The Heritage Tie and you can order this on the website CLICK HERE TO ORDER TIE . We do have to reach a minimum order and we’ve got quite a tight order schedule if we want to receive the ties by Christmas – they cost £20 and are very smart! Please place your orders ASAP, We plan to close the book on November 11th to meet the delivery.
Please see below for an example of a well-worn Heritage tie! Yours will look brand new!
Ex-Player & Supporters Day
We’re really excited about the 9th November – some of us have definitely picked the wrong weekend for a trip away!! There is lots of fun planned for after the match against Edinburgh Accies, with a lunch and some reminiscing about the 1984 Melrose Rugby Club tour to Vancouver. We’ll also have some chat about the 2022 tour of Ontario/Quebec from current players. There’s a great lunch planned, there’s entertainment and food available later on too. The whole thing will have a Canadian theme – hopefully a wee taste of home for our two Canadian’s Evan & Andrew! CLICK HERE TO BOOK FOR LUNCH (book now to avoid disappointment)
Friday Night Melrose Touch Rugby Gang
