Melrose Rugby Bulletin 16/5/24

Afternoon All,

Hope everyone is having a good week. We had a really good turn out for Wednesday night’s club meeting with plans presented & discussed. We’re just at the beginning of our ‘reset ‘and it’s good to get our objectives out there. Due to the high turn out on Wednesday night, we are considering cancelling the scheduled meeting on 21stMay unless we have a minimum of twenty members signed up to attend. If you do wish to attend on 21st May please let Hilary know by Sunday latest. We will make a final decision on Monday morning and advise accordingly.

Rugby…

Last weekend saw the 7s team head to Selkirk, possibly not our finest hour with an early exit in the 1st round to Edinburgh Accies. This weekend we’re off to Jed for the last tournament of the Kings of the 7s. As last week, we’re the final tie in the first round and we take on Heriots. The weather is looking pretty good again for Jed, so have a great day if you’re heading over and good luck to the boys!

The Southern Knights…

It's Round 4 for the Southern Knights this weekend, and their first game on the road after 3 at home. They head to Ayr tomorrow to take on the Bulls – KO at Millbrae is 3pm

P4 Tour to Morpeth

As we mentioned last week, Melrose Rugby P4s headed to Morpeth RFC on Saturday morning and stayed for the weekend.

A trip to the beach followed by an afternoon at Morpeth U18s 7s tournament were very enjoyable. On Saturday night we were hosted at Morpeth Cricket Club for a disco and bbq. Sunday morning with a few sleepy kids we played fixtures against Morpeth U9s, all games were played in great spirit.

Both teams then held their end of season awards and enjoyed the Morpeth RFC family fun day. A huge thanks to everyone who helped organise and especially Morpeth for their brilliant hospitality! Also a massive thank you to all of our generous sponsors - each player had an individual sponsor while Dodds Property and Construction Limited and Geo-Info were the main sponsors.
